Bass Maltings is using hygienic valves and actuators from Keystone on a specially designed rig used to clean the germinating vessel on its main malting tower.

The vessel can carry over 200 tonnes of barley and operates at a constant 100% humidity.

Keystone stainless steel actuators are used to move water nozzles across the rotating floor. Actuated Figure 259 butterfly valves control the flow of water to and from the rig and to the jets that spray underneath the rotating floor.

The 10oC well water is supplied via the header tower at 5bar pressure. The valves offer bubble-tight shutoff and bi-directional capacity on hygienic or corrosive applications.
