CBI – Appointment

Sir Iain Vallance has been appointed the new president of the CBI, for a two-year term, replacing Sir Clive Thompson, the chief executive of Rentokil. Vallance is chairman of British Telecom and vice-chairman of the Royal Bank of Scotland. He joined the General Post Office in 1966 and became chief executive in 1986.
