Work has started on a £3.3m investment at Chemoxy International’s contract manufacturing facilities on Teesside, in the first phase of a five-year expansion programme. Phase one involves building a 10,000 tonne per year chemical plant on a 10 acre site located at ICI’s Chemplex facility in Billingham, Cleveland. Turnkey contractor for the project, West’s Engineering Design of Darlington, is due to have completed the plant by May next year. The new large scale reaction facility will be coupled to a 40 theoretical stage fractionation column and will be able to perform a range of processes including alkylation, aminations, esterification and etherification
