Advanced Carbide Tooling’s latest development in 2.2mm tooling is a carbide insert, which incorporates a chip former.

The type NBC inserts are suitable for parting-off and deep radial grooving on long chipping materials up to 32mm diameter, including stainless steels and high temperature aerospace alloys. A sintered-in groove forms watch-spring shaped swarf, which is narrower than the turned groove. This produces good surface finishes with improved chip removal from the cutting area.
