The feasibility of further developing jigless assembly within the aerospace industry is now being investigated in a collaboration between the university of Nottingham, Comau UK/Bombadier Short Brothers and ATA Engineering.

The main aims of the project are to reduce the need for the manufacture of sub-assemblies and to develop a flexible automated system for riveting aero-structure components to exploit any opportunities that may arise.
