Cognex have introduced VisionLinx, a new software package for connecting Cognex Checkpoint 900 Series machine vision systems to Rockwell’s Allen-Bradley control products.

Users can configure communications between a machine vision system and Allen-Bradley PLCs and SLC’s within a single point and click user interface. Data can be transmitted from Checkpoint over a wide range of automation networks including ControlNet, Data HighwayPlus, Ethernet and DF1 with claimed easy integration. The software can also help users to manage communications by addressing data from the vision system to specific data tables or `memory locations’ within a PLC. In an automated inspection application a `fail’ signal could be sent to the PLC to trigger a `reject’ mechanism, while measurement data may be sent to a process control data table.

Visionlinx connects a machine vision system to Rockwell’s Allen-Bradley control products over a variety of networks from a single, easy to use software environment which reduces development time. The software features menu driven dialogues that help simplify the process of setting up communication parameters such as buffers.
