Speeding to Belgium

GEC-Alsthom has won a £97m deal to supply Belgian National Railways with 80 two-car diesel-hydraulic trains, capable of running at 120km/h. A further maintenance order will follow.

Key to the MoD

Cogent, the managed services business of Nortel, has won a £30m contract to develop a data management system, General Key Management, for the MoD.

Phone extension

Alcatel has a £13m contract to supply and install 400,000 phone lines and 10,000 lines of radio access network over the next five years to Cote d’Ivoire Telecom. Alcatel has also won a £2m deal to extend the GSM network on the Cote d’Ivoire.

Calling Moscow

GPT, the Nottingham-based telecoms equipment manufacturer, is to supply the communications system for the Moscow City Project, a development similar to the UK’s Canary Wharf.

Gas field safety

Fisher-Rosemount Systems, the process control manufacturer and software designer, has been awarded a £6.5m order from Brown and Root to supply field instrumentation, control and safety systems for the onshore gas plant at the Obaiyed gas field in North West Egypt.

Press goes to college

LVD Shape, the Marlow-based sheet metal manufacturer, has won a £250,000 contract to supply Waltham Forest College with a Delta 1000 punch press.

Basildon clean up

RB Cleanability Services, the manufacturer of environmentally friendly solvent cleaning machines, has been awarded a contract worth £55,000 to supply an LM 150 to Caradon MK Electric, the Basildon based electrical accessory manufacturer.
