ABB Centre Switchgear, based in Telford, Shropshire, has appointed Martin Conway as operations manager, reporting to general manager, Chris Anthony.
The company makes a range of low-voltage switchboards, motor control centres and packaged sub-stations for industrial and commercial applications.
Conway joins ABB from Hawker Siddeley, where he was assembly manager in its medium-voltage switchgear plant.
BTR Environmental, a manufacturer of integrated filtration and pollution control products and systems, based in Rickmansworth, Herts, has appointed Ken Arnold as group managing director. He was previously president of BTR Environmental in the US.
Simon Rickaby has been promoted to managing director of Marine and Port Services, based in Pembrokeshire. He was formerly the firm’s director and general manager.
Thomas Mercer of TML, a manufacturer of standard gauging and calibration systems, has been appointed managing director of System E following the company’s acquisition by System E Controls.
Ford Power Products has appointed Wilhelm van Schaardenburgh as director of European activities. He was previously manager, powertrain component sales, for the Ford powertrain group and succeeds the late Gert Wenzler.
Gareth Watts has joined Tecnomatix Technologies, which specialises in computer aided production engineering, as general manager, Northern Europe. He will be based at Canwell, near Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands. Watts was previously regional director for Parametric Technology, where he was responsible for marketing Pro/Engineer.
Lawrence Flynn has been appointed managing director and general manager of Marcam Solutions UK. He previously worked for Origin and for Minerva Industrial Systems.
Kenilworth-based Whitehouse Machine Tools has appointed Ian Hodierne as operations manager in charge of turnkey project management. He previously worked at machine tool control systems firm Wickman, based in Coventry, for twenty years and was turnkey projects manager at Reis Elan Engineering, Coventry.
John Hall has been appointed operations manager at Warth International. He will oversee production and distribution of EMC shielding and thermal management products. Hall formerly worked for Philips.
Peter Harland, who recently retired as managing director of Croda Paints, has been elected president of the British Coatings Federation, the trade association of paint, printing ink and wallcoverings manufacturers. He was president for a year once before, in 1987.
