Senior members of the engineering profession will meet next Wednesday to discuss the adoption of a professional title specific to engineers that would replace Mr, Mrs, Miss or Ms, as revealed in The Engineer last week.

The Engineering Council’s Senate, meeting at the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington, will get a briefing on the proposed title likely to be Eng which could be adopted by more than 200,000 engineers in Britain. The title is to be legally enforceable, so only registered chartered and incorporated engineers would be eligible to use it.
