You can now get a single board compact PC/104-based interface to handle smaller scale instrumentation/control I/O needs – Arcom’s multi-function AIM104.

And, by using an opto-isolated serial bus to connect with analogue subsystems, the company claims to have slashed the cost of isolation – saving around £100 against conventional I/O boards equipped with analogue isolation amplifiers.

AIM104-Multi actually offers three functions – 16 12bit precision analogue inputs (16 se or eight differential at 2k samples per second), two 12bit outputs and eight opto-isolated digital inputs – so it’ll handle a fair few switches, controls, process instruments or whatever – and you can incorporate manual controls, limit switches, etc.
