Torbay Council in Devon has just taken delivery of 17 of these Daihatsu Hijet liquefied petroleum gas-fuelled vans as part of a move to increase its use of environmentally friendly fuels. The fuelling station in Torbay, provided by Shell, will be open to the public to encourage wider use of LPG-fuelled vehicles. Diahatsu’s launch of the LPG-Hijet last week came as the Government announced £3.3m extra cash for its Powershift programme, which gives grants to help convert new fleet vehicles to run on gas or electricity.
