Salvage teams attempting to move the 3,100 tonne dredger lodged on to one of the gates of the Thames barrier since Monday, were not expecting to be able to move the vessel until later this week. The 98m Sand Kite from the same fleet as the Bowbelle, notorious for its part in the Marchioness disaster was holed. An inquiry is being carried out by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch. Early suspicions have focused on technical problems such as a steering failure or loss of power as well as possible human error
