Drivers of gas-powered cars may be able to fill up their vehicles at home under a scheme outlined by gas group BG. Compressors kept in garages and other parking places would change domestic gas into compressed natural gas fuel, which can be used to power vehicles. The new technology gets around the problem of distribution, as there is currently no national network of gas supply stations for cars. Gas is seen by some as preferable to petrol because it creates less pollution and is cheaper.
