Dave Thompson is joining the board of Sunderland-based Motherwell Information Systems Group (UK) as non-executive chairman. Thompson who was co-founder of Druid and also owns Newcastle Falcons rugby club is expected to strengthen MIS’s position as an IT services and solutions provider.

Thompson is a firm advocate of the ‘integrate from outside theory’ (see News Analysis p14) and plans to expand MIS by up to 40% per annum for the next three years. His vision is to service the small and medium sized enterprises and provide specialist process solutions worldwide.

Thompson is convinced that industry will integrate its operations from the factory floor upwards. “We prefer to take industry people with business strengths and train them in IT,” he explained to C&I.
