A bill allowing private e-mails to be read by the police and secret services was finally passed by House of Lords this week after the government agreed to a series of amendments. As a result of the changes, companies will have the right to sue law enforcement agencies if confidential material is leaked through negligence. Business groups said the bill is too vague and was drafted too quickly.
