A web server using Java has been applied to Arcom’s 386EX and 188EB embedded controllers to provide OEMs with a combination offering low cost remote monitoring and diagnostics via the Internet and intranets.

Developed by Io, the software uses a new comms layer for TCP/IP which allows controllers to serve virtual control panels using Java applets for animated views.

There’s an evaluation program and a developer’s kit the former having several ready to use front panel Java objects, like LEDs, buttons, an LCD, chart recorder and data logger.
