Some 2,000 made it to the Embedded Systems Show at Olympia 2, London at the end of May. They came to see 60 firms in this fast-moving market.

Names included AMD, Arcom, Crellon, DSP Design, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, Lynx, Microtec, Microware, Mitsubishi, Motorola, Philips, QNX, RadiSys, Reflex, Siemens and Spyglass.

This sample of launches sets the scene. Lynx’s PosixWorks, now at v2.5, was shown with revisions of the os and new source code and run time error detection tools. Reflex demonstrated OSE Delta, claimed to be the first RTOS for fault-tolerant, distributed systems to get IEC 1508 certification up to Sil 3 via TUV.

Also, i-Logix showed the first object-orientated analysis, design and implementation tool based on the emerging Unified Modelling Language.
