The Engineering Employers’ Federation has given its backing to Quinco, the five-year follow-on campaign to 1997’s Year of Engineering Success (Yes).
The EEF was one of a number of Yes patrons but was highly critical of the way the project was delivered. ‘We had been withholding support for Quinco until we saw a meaningful business plan,’ said a spokesman.
The EEF has seen a draft version of the plan which will go to its finance committee this week.
Alex McDiarmid, Quinco’s newly appointed chairman, said the new body would act as a catalyst and co-ordinator for initiatives being delivered by the engineering sector through various partnerships and joint ventures.
