Bart de Steur, incoming president of the InstMC and former head of instrumentation at SIPM in the Hague, Holland, said that recognition for engineers in Europe needs improvement.

He was speaking at the annual dinner of the Institute’s Gatton Section last month. de Steur said that Continuing Professional Development was also not adequately co-ordinated or supported.

`Engineers should act as a single united group’, said de Steur.
