EU inflation rate falls

Annual inflation in the European Union fell to 1.7% in March from 2% in February. In March 1996 the rate was 2.6%. The Eurostat figures released last week showed that, according to the new European index of consumer prices, the UK’s annual inflation in March was 1.8%.
