Sixth formers at Oundle School in Peterborough are getting a glamourous taste of engineering in a project working on £1m powerboats. The national Engineering Education Scheme research is looking at ways of improving spray cooling of the boats’ 400 C exhausts at lower speeds. Four pupils have been working with Fairline Boats of Oundle, Northants, and Birmingham University where they built test rigs.
