GEC-Marconi Avionics could develop advanced versions of its Phoenix pilotless reconnaissance aircraft, now in production after a nine-year development delay. Future payloads may include a lightweight thermal imager, combined infra-red and television sensors, electronic warfare systems, synthetic aperture radar and GPS navigation. Airframe changes are also being investigated.
