The H2 high speed fieldbus being developed by the Fieldbus Foundation has had funding approved to bring the technology to end users as soon as possible.

Multiple field trials have already verified that Foundation Fieldbus provides interoperability among devices from different manufacturers. An interoperability test kit was launched in July, and the FF is now accepting reservations fore testing host and field devices. Independent third party conformance testing of developer’s communication software (stacks) is continuing.

More than 30 participants from 24 companies have agreed to take part in H2 development teams, in order to complete preliminary specifications this year.

The ISA Anaheim show, from 7-9th October, will present an FF ‘Path to Fieldbus’, with a large display of commercially available fieldbus products.
