At the Fieldbus Foundation general assembly held in Heidelberg in Germany in March, a resolution was passed that stated `Fieldbus Foundation expects the Profibus User Group (PNO) to actively support getting Fieldbus Foundation technology into the EN50170 standard for public utilities and to get the IEC Data Link Layer specification approved as the IEC standard’.

* The recent appeal to overturn the rejection of the IEC Data Link vote was successful. However, Germany immediately objected to the decision and demanded a revote – which will further delay approval (if successful) for a another six months.

* The Fieldbus Foundation’s resolution to request the German national standards committee co-operation does not appear, so far, to have received support.
