‘A radical new design of float gauge for bulk storage tanks resulting in installed savings of £3,000 per tank against servo devices’; that’s how Whessoe describes its 2046 Advanced Tank Gauge. And it’s been certified by NMI and SIM – a claimed first for float gauges – extending its role to custody transfer.

Accuracy is said to be +/-1mm, and at costs around £2,000 less than competing servo and radar equipment. The device has an integral transmitter and a tiny footprint (21 x 22cm), so it offers an excellent way of upgrading existing installations for advanced inventory management – at very low cost.

It achieves its accuracy using a tape system which is virtually free of friction and hysteresis. It works with an external sensor for temperature and transmits data using a range of comms formats
