FLUID CONTROL

Pump provides a cheaper option

For low flow rates at high pressures, new pumps from Sterling are a cost-effective alternative to centrifugal pumps that would be oversized.

SIHI multi-stage side-channel self-priming pumps have capacities up to 12 m3/hr at 190m head. AIL models provide efficient handling of non-abrasive liquids. CIL models provide trouble-free operation under difficult suction conditions.

Both claim good gas/air handling capabilities and are available with either a standard motor drive or magnetic coupling.

FlatPlate, a brazed plate heat exchanger from the US now available in the UK, combines compactness with an ‘extremely large’ surface area for heat transfer between liquids, including refrigerants and oils.

Applications include chillers, condensers, heat pumps, boilers and calorifiers.

The MP series FlatMate, made from marine stainless alloy, is nickel brazed to resist corrosion in swimming pools, salt water and other harsh environments.

Magnetic couplings make a better sump pump says Vertimag pumps supplier, Michael Smith Engineers.

These non-metal vertical seal-less pumps can be run dry. They avoid aeration and foaming and are inherently resistant to chemical corrosion.

Five sizes cover capacities up to 23 m3/hr at heads up to 17m.

Pumps can be close coupled with standard IEC motors and are available with strainers, discharge pipes and other accessories.
