The financial costs are enormous, and how the risk is shared depends on the legal skills brought to bear on the contracts applied among those involved. But whether measured in terms of cash or prestige, both Ford and Kiekert stand to lose out from this fiasco. The only benefit for the car industry as a whole would be an open and detailed account from both parties of how and why these door latches failed to arrive on the Fiesta production lines.
