Ford is considering entering into a partnership with Volkswagen, according to a report in German newspaper Die Welt. The deal, similar to that between General Motors and Fiat which saw GM take a 20% stake in the Italian company, would be unusual for Ford, which has tended to grow by acquisition rather than partnerships. It may also be resisted by shareholders in Volkswagen, which has performed better than Ford in profits and growth over the past few years.
