FORD HAS signed a multi-million dollar software deal with e-business specialist SynQuest as part of its drive to improve supply chain performance and shorten order-to-delivery times.
The automotive giant will use SynQuest decision-support software worldwide to help control its transport, distribution and inventory costs.
According to SynQuest, this will allow Ford to plan and simulate its logistics process, making the supply chain more reliable.
Jerry Joyce, director of global logistics at Ford, said: `We plan to use the SynQuest software to tie our manufacturing and logistics together more effectively. Our goal is to fulfil orders to customers faster.’
The new contract is the third deal between Ford and SynQuest, which has also worked with the manufacturer to develop logistics planning applications.
