The acquisition last week of specialist offshore firm -term jobs for UK engineers.

Following the move, the Norwegian company will continue to allow Genesis which focuses on conceptual design and other front-end engineering work in the offshore sector to operate as an independent consultancy. Genesis will open new offices in Oslo and Houston.

Genesis employs about 200 at its UK operations, which are based in London, Aberdeen and Perth.

Alastair Dornen, managing director at Genesis, said the new operations would have to be built up quickly to employ 30-40 people. They would each be staffed initially by a substantial core of ex-patriates from the UK, he added.
