A 6m x 6m earthquake simulator, similar to the one shown here, is to be built for the Nuclear Power Institute of China by motion simulation company Servotest of Middlesex in a £1.4m deal. The simulator, large enough to hold 80 people lying side by side and with a test load of 60 tonnes – equivalent to 80 Minis – will be used to test the building structure of nuclear power stations and nuclear control equipment.
