North-east engineering firm Whaley Engineering has been bought out of receivership, securing more than 130 jobs.

The Stockton-based firm, which called in the receivers after hitting financial difficulties, has been bought by Hallcam UK of Peterlee for an undisclosed sum.

A senior spokesman for Hallcam said: ‘With its five-metre headroom and its 20-tonne overhead cranes, the Whaley site will give us the type of facility we need to help us achieve our long-term expansion plans.’
