HART revision 6.0 is now underway, according to latest information from the HART Communication Foundation in the USA. Rev 6.0 will provide for longer tag names, additional common practice commands and also faster digital comms.

The HCF’s Ron Helson says that HART rev 6.0 will be top of the agenda for the next two meetings – in Innsbruk, Austria from February 18-20 and Frankfurt, Germany, June 16-18.

Meanwhile, HCF’s Wally Pratt says: `significant progress has been made in the past year to identify the technical approach for high speed HART. Our goal is to build prototype modems using off the shelf components’.

He says that the high speed HART specs and modems should be available by August.
