Hewlett Packard has formed an alliance with Fisher-Rosemount to provide a solution for continuous and batch-process-manufacturing applications. Fisher-Rosemount will use HP Enterprise Link production-integration software within its PlantWeb process-automation architecture.

The process-automation solutions will enable seamless plant-to-enterprise integration for processes in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. To address the information needs of continuous and batch-process manufacturers, HP and Fisher-Rosemount intend to jointly develop an OPC communication object for HP Enterprise Link within the next six months. The new communication object will enable automatic information exchange between OPC-enabled plant floor control systems, including Fisher-Rosemount’s DeltaV and ERP systems. “By integrating PlantWeb with HP Enterprise Link, we are expanding the scope of our architecture to enable complete sensor-to-enterprise solutions,” said Jim Nyquist, president of Fisher-Rosemount’s performance solutions division.
