Nicholas Sills, technical director at James Fisher & Sons (Seafloor Dynamex), collected the Manufacturing Industry Achievement Award for Engineering Team of the Year at last week’s gala dinner at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel from Lord Hollick, chief executive of United News & Media, owner of The Engineer. The Aberdeen-based company impressed the judges with the development of its hydraulic motor for use in subsea conditions.

The MIAA dinner was attended by almost 900 senior figures from the engineering sector, with awards presented in 19 categories. Manufacturer of the Year went to Shires Bathrooms, a traditional manufacturer which has turned its business round by introducing new manufacturing techniques and processes
