Crust breaking with fewer services

A high-temperature piston seal developed by Parker Pneumatic can double the service interval for crust-breaking cylinders used in aluminium smelting. A fluorinated rubber mixture resists seal wear in tension and compression at continuous temperatures of 150 C and intermittently up to 200 C, over an expected life of seven to eight years.

Filter silencer company Process Scientific Innovations has cut 16dBA from the Health and Safety Executive’s maximum acceptable noise level for compressor exhausts with a 69dBA unit for 6mm and 9mm size fittings.

Instead of diecast aluminium the silencer casing is made from reinforced plastics material with a metal screw thread insert.

When used with PSI’s separator, which is made from moulded phenolic resin, the silencer attenuates exhaust noise to consistently low levels.

Ultrafilter claims a favourable cost performance ratio for its new design of adsorption dryer developed for compressed air systems. Modular design makes the self-monitoring Ultrapac 2000 a low cost and efficient item to buy, maintain and run, the company claims.

A cartridge design makes drying agent and after-filter components easy to replace.

A Pneudri compressed air dryer supplied by Domnick Hunter is used by bulk processor Armorex in a pneumatic handling system. Fitted with twin-speed screw conveyors, it automatically transfers a variety of powder products between four 54m3 storage silos mounted on load cells and the receiving hoppers.

Energy-efficient Dewpoint Dependent Switching ensures Pneudri DHE 210 cuts in only when dessicant beds need regenerating. Pneudri handles a variable load between 15m3/min and 60m3/min.

The dryer is modular so the equipment can be extended easily.
