The Ministry of Defence said it is satisfied that US contractor Lockheed Martin is fit to take over management of the Atomic Weapons Establishment at Aldermaston in alliance with British Nuclear Fuels and Serco, despite a highly critical report about the company on the BBC’s Panorama programme earlier this week. The documentary said there had been six serious accidents at Lockheed-managed nuclear plants in the US, two of which caused deaths.
