INDUSTRIAL COMPUTING

Cool computers

A new enclosure helps keep shop floor computers cool in hot and dusty environments close to ovens, furnaces and kiln rooms.

Armagard has developed a cooling device called a Vortex Tube for use with its computer enclosures.

It spins compressed air from the factory air line to produce cold air. Cold and hot air are mixed to reach the required temperature.

Densitron has packed the same computing power into 40% less space with a new range of industrial PCs measuring just 60mm deep compared with 100mm for earlier models.

The DT59 has a 486/586 processor and 4Mb flash memory. Supporting a 10.4 inch VGA screen, key functions are controlled by the mother board.

There is room for two half-size ISA bus or standard PC104 expansion cards.
