90% of the UK’s leading manufacturers demand greater levels of real time information from their production processes, while 80% see a need for greater integration of computers, control systems and production equipment, according to the results of a survey released by Independent Exhibitions.

Carried out by Benchmark Research, the survey was used to evaluate the demand for a new event, Control Systems Integration, due to run alongside CIM 97 from 4-6 November at the NEC in Birmingham.

Process and discrete manufacturers, including Glaxo Wellcome, ICI, Kodak, Lockheed, Lucas, Rolls Royce, Rover and Zeneca, were among companies whose chief engineers and process managers were contacted for the survey.

In all, there are now five satellite Shows around CIM 97. They are CAM 97, Control Systems Integration 97, Networks in Manufacturing, Process 97 and PDM 97.
