Rotork intelligent electric valve actuators have been specified for installation throughout the conventional plant areas of the Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station under construction at Daya Bay, Guangdong Province in the Peoples Republic of China.

On completion of the 2 x 900 MW station, more than 400 Rotork IQ actuators will be installed as part of the turbine contract awarded to Alstom Powerplants. many of the actuators will operate high pressure parallel slide steam valves including 550mm class 900 and 750mm class 150 designs. The actuators are fitted to Exeeco bevel gearboxes on the largest valves.

Eric Li, manager of Rotork’s Hong Kong office, explains the high level of local support available directly from Rotork companies, in particular, the ease of `non-intrusive’ commissioning and simplified maintenance.

Built by the Chinese Electric Authority, Ling Ao is a sister station to Guangdong power plant, also supplied with electric valve actuators from Rotork. Li estimates that well over 1000 Rotork actuators are installed in power plants in Guangdong Province, which is one of the fastest growing regions in China.
