Seoul, the capital of South Korea, operates a 100 year old waste dump serving 10,000 garbage trucks each year, from 10 different communities.

In the past, an ID punched card system was misused – and making corrections for lost revenues became a major problem. A new system, Tagmaster from Colter Systems, has now been installed which is claimed to be impossible to misuse or defraud.

The Seoul Refuse Facility now operates on an advanced programmed solution that allows automatic access to garbage trucks, high speed throughput and correct debiting of the different refuse collecting companies.

The TagMaster S1255 factory read-only tag is read through the windows of the trucks by multi-function readers, eliminating the tag swapping between trucks that used to occur.

Photo sensors also confirm that all the wheels of the trucks are simultaneously on the weigh bridge, and these are connected to the multi-function readers via their parallel inputs.

When a truck arrives and has been through the identification and weighing process, the multi-function readers then activate a green light to open the barriers.

Large scale implementation of Tagmaster is now claimed to give increased throughput, faster revenues, improved accuracy and the facility to collect historical data to help strategic decisions.
