Investment in the UK by foreign companies reached record levels last year, with nearly half comong from the US. More than 52,000 new jobs were created through 757 inward investment projects from 30 countries, according to the government’s Invest in Britain Bureau. The figures are in stark contrast to warnings about foreign investment made recently in leaked government memos suggesting the UK should join the euro. Of the projects, 205 were in e-commerce. The US and Japan remain the largest investors with 48% and 7.7% respectively.
