As the UK recession starts to bite, British engineering firms are to be asked to fund the industry’s ‘Image Campaign’ to the tune of £25m in the next five years.

The campaign to recruit more bright youngsters is due to begin this autumn. It is the brainchild of the Engineering Council, the Engineering Employers’ Federation and the Engineering and Marine Training Authority.

‘We’re approaching tier-one prospects,’ said EEF marketing director Jeremy Miller, who is confident of reaching the funding target.
