Kvaerner Energy, the threatened engineering plant at the former John Brown shipyard on the Clyde, may be saved after Kvaerner agreed in principle to a buy-out led by one of its former managers. A new company, Newco, headed by Bob Hepburn, the plant’s former marketing director, has signed a letter of intent with Kaverner to take over the factory, which faces closure and the loss of 250 jobs.
