Letter: Microsoft got what it deserved

Could I ask, in response to your article `E-business could pay a high price…’ (Analysis, 16 June): Is the Engineer now also a partner of Microsoft?

One reason Microsoft found itself in the dock recently is because another company had the idea to develop a browser to make the internet easier to use. Microsoft at the time didn’t believe its customers were ready for the internet.

Thanks to Netscape and its founders, the reason you’re using a power browser like Explorer is because of a bit of competition.

Microsoft has abused its position in its usual arrogant fashion. The future of communications and e-commerce can well do without Microsoft and its closed shop style of business.
