Lotus unveiled its latest sports car at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week. The M250, likely to cost £45,000, is expected to go into production in 2001 ramping up to 3,000 vehicles a year. It is light, weighing less than 1,000kg, with power coming from a new Lotus-developed 250bhp 3-litre V6 engine driving the rear wheels through a six-speed gearbox. Limiting the top speed electronically to 155mph freed engineers to optimise the car’s dynamic qualities, says Lotus.
