Hitachi Europe has launched what is said to be the industry’s first 64kbit and 256kbit EEPROMs that operate from voltage supplies as low as 2.2V (2.2-3.6V).

Compared to EEPROMs that require a minimum voltage of 2.7V, the devices provide power savings of about 20%, meaning longer operating times of battery powered products. Power dissipation is 24mW at 8MHz and 2.2V. They have 150ns access times and fast 15ms write cycle times, aiding overall system performance.
