Malaysia last week ordered six Super Lynx maritime helicopters from GKN Westland in a deal worth £100m. The Super Lynxes will replace ex-Royal Navy Westland Wasps bought in 1988 and 1992.
This is the third order for Super Lynxes and the first for newly-built helicopters.
Six Malaysian companies are involved in the Super Lynx programme, manufacturing ground support equipment and providing maintenance.
The Malaysian Super Lynxes will operate from offshore patrol vessels and from two Lekiu-class frigates built by Marconi Marine.
