With just ten days to go before the 1999 Manufacturing Industry Achievement Awards, tickets for the event are still available – but are being snapped up fast.

The gala celebration, hosted by broadcaster Angela Rippon and with a keynote address by celebrated British inventor Trevor Baylis, takes place at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on Tuesday 21 September. The event marks the culmination of this year’s search for the high achievers of Britain’s industrial community, its centrepiece being the announcement of the winners of this year’s MIAA awards.

The shortlist includes some of the top names in British industry, but as well as the largest companies, many small enterprises are also in with a chance to be recognised for their outstanding achievements.

The line-up includes seven awards for management excellence in fields ranging from IT implementation to export. Among the firms shortlisted for these are: Jaguar Cars, Bombardier Aerospace-Shorts, Rolls-Royce, Vosper Thornycroft, Hawtal Whiting Environmental, Potterton Myson, Intentia, Case UK, BHR and Hoover, Pace Micro Technology, Heller Machine Tools, British Aluminium Plate, Digital Engineering and many more.

Three awards for innovation and a further four for the best new products of the year complete the line-up.

The awards have established themselves as a key event in the The Engineer’s calendar, attended by leaders of the industry.

For tickets to the event, which includes dinner and top-quality entertainment at the Grosvenor, call Jo Wengler on 01494 488125.
