Atlet, maker of the Tergo Une range of forklift trucks, has tackled the problem of repetitive strain injury which can affect drivers, with a seat design which allows the seat to swivel 30 in either direction.

The driver can face the direction of travel, avoiding head twisting. This is one of a number of ergonomic features which could help drivers avoid strain to the upper limbs.

Canon UK specified the Tergo Une at its new distribution centre in Coalville in response to RSI problems, which had dented productivity.

Two Bendi forklifts and some extra racking have allowed marzipan maker Renshaw Scott of Liverpool to raise storage capacity by 20% within the same storage cube.

The Bendi forklift truck is an articulating counter-balanced narrow-isle truck with a 180 front wheel/mast swivel that can operate as a highly stable yard truck, helping to cut down on the cost of double handling.

Abbott’s Packaging, which makes palletised containers where the pallet is an integral part of the reusable flatpack container, has brought out a new budget range.

The maker says the unit is built to export quality.

It comes in four standard sizes from half European to full container.

ABBOTT’S PACKAGING

The art of maintaining a constant feed of drinks cans to filling machines across a number of high-speed production lines is the business of Gramac Mechanical Handling.

A motorised, multi-lane conveyor, called an unscrambling table, provides the solution, supplying and removing cans from the filling lines.

Each lane of belting runs at different speeds to allow for differences in loading, filling and unloading rates.

Packaging products supplier Lawson Mardon Superior has commissioned a semi-automatic pallet handling system which it needs to maintain continuous production at its Dublin plant.

Designed and installed by Moving Conveyor, the equipment comprises in-feed and transfer conveyors which deliver pallets to one of six manual palletising stations, as identified by a person at a control panel. The stations serve six slitting machines where the packaging material is cut to size before being loaded by a worker on to another pallet at an adjacent pallet station for transfer to a strapping station or the packing area.

Both areas cater for an accumulation of pallets without causing congestion.

A reusable plastic box developed for car maker Nissan can be assembled and folded in seconds with a single snap action, improving productivity on the assembly line.

The C15 box comes in two capacities of 21 litres and 45 litres, folding down to a height of just 69mm.

Load Builder is a computerised picking and loading module. It works with ATMS Stockrack Plus, the warehousing system, to speed up routing through the warehouse of the day’s deliveries and organising vehicle pick-up schedules. Co-developer and user Jiffy Packaging says it is essential to have a fully computerised system for dealing with more than 1,700 products and frequent deliveries to distributors.

Lansing Linde’s new budget electric truck caters for medium-duty intermittent load handling, filling the role of conventional counterbalance and reach trucks, lifting loads of 1,000kg to a height of 4.9m. The E10 handles every type of pallet including the europallet, stillages or closed-base pallets, making it suitable for the UK market.

Bags that provide immediate corrosion protection for small metal parts are available in reel-form from reel-fed bagging systems company Autobag with specialist films maker Zerust.

Two formulations, one for ferrous products and the other for mixed metal parts, are identified using clear yellow and clear green film. Autobag says the bags mean traditional grease coatings needed to protect parts in transit and storage can usually be omitted.

Hydraulic lift tables are helping assembly workers on the DOHC cylinder head line at Ford, Dagenham, with heavy lifting tasks in between machining operations, without having to bend or stretch.

An electrically-interlocked turntable mounted on the lift ensures the lift will not operate if parts are overhanging, thus avoiding the risk of trapping hazards.
